Best starting hands:
The best starting hand is obviously pocket Aces.
Hands that you should always call with before the flop are
as follows:
AA, KK, QQ.
Hands that you should always call with before the flop
unless there are many players that continue to re-raise one another are as
follows:
JJ, 10 10, AK, AQ, AJ.
You should only call the blind when both your cards are over
8. Anything below this and you can never be confident that you are winning, because
quite often you will not have top pair. You should also not call with a high
card and a low card, i.e. K 3. This is because if and when you hit your king
you can never be sure you are winning, as your kicker is awful. Can lose a lot
of money this way. It is best not to call at all.
Hands such as suited connectors, e.g. 6 7 of hearts, may
look nice but they are hands that more often than not take your money. You
cannot get a decent pair with these and hoping to hit a flush or a straight is
not the way you should play poker. If you are lucky enough to hit a flush it is
not a high one and so it can be beaten.
